Maj Gen Gautam Mahajan, Sena Medal, Deputy Commandant and Chief Instructor, MCTE Mhow, Visits IIT Palakkad to Explore Strategic Collaboration

Maj Gen Gautam Mahajan, Sena Medal, Deputy Commandant and Chief Instructor (DCCI), Military College of Telecommunication Engineering (MCTE), Mhow, along with Lt. Col. Abhishek Koshal, has visited IIT Palakkad as part of a strategic academic and technology outreach programme. MCTE is a premier institution of the Indian Army for education, training, research, and technology development in telecommunications and emerging technologies.

During the visit, Maj Gen Mahajan, Sena Medal, held a courtesy meeting with Prof. A. Seshadri Sekhar, Director, IIT Palakkad. He also interacted with Dr. Arvind Ajoy, Dean, ICSR; Dr. Vivek Chaturvedi, Associate Dean, ICSR; Dr. Nelson Muthu, Faculty In-charge, Academic-Industry Collaboration; and other faculty members of IIT Palakkad. The discussions focused on exploring opportunities for collaboration in areas of mutual interest, including Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Robotics, Autonomous Systems, Quantum Technologies, Data Science, Digital Forensics, and other emerging technologies of relevance to national security.

The delegation was briefed on key research initiatives at IIT Palakkad and visited selected laboratories and Centres of Excellence. MCTE hosts the Indian Army’s Centres of Expertise in strategic domains such as Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Quantum Technologies, VLSI and Nanoelectronics, Electronic Warfare, Counter-UAS, and Satellite Communications. MCTE also maintains a strategic partnership with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and houses the C-DAC Centre of Excellence. The visit concluded successfully with discussions on potential avenues for sustained engagement between the two institutions. The interaction is expected to pave the way for strengthened academia–defence collaboration and joint initiatives in cutting-edge technologies aimed at addressing emerging challenges in national security.
