IIT Palakkad partners with Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia for Research and Academic Excellence

IIT Palakkad was honoured to host Prof. Krishnaraj Ramaswamy, Principal Scientific Advisor, Ministry of Innovation and Technology, Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia; Ethiopia Joint PhD Programs Coordinator, Ministry of Education, Ethiopia; and Director, Centre for Excellence in Indigenous Knowledge Innovative Technology Transfer and Entrepreneurship, Dambi Dollo University. The visit on 8th September 2025 was hosted by Prof. A. Seshadri Sekhar, Director, IIT Palakkad. Subsequent discussions were held in the presence of Prof Santhakumar Mohan Dean, ICSR, Dr. Athira P, Dean, Academics ,Dr. Subrahmanyam Mula, Faculty-in-Charge, International and Alumni Relations. Prof. Krishnaraj also interacted with Heads of Departments and faculty members across disciplines. Key points of discussion included Joint Doctoral Program applications under the MoU, streamlining the selection process and plans to further formalize collaborations between IIT Palakkad and the Ministry of Innovation and Technology, Ethiopia.
Under the existing MoU between IIT Palakkad and the Ministry of Education, Ethiopia, jointly offer the Multidisciplinary International Quality Improvement Doctoral Degree Program (MIQMDDP). This initiative strengthens academic collaboration through joint doctoral research, academic exchange, and co-supervision, offering Ethiopian scholars a unique opportunity to pursue a PhD with mentorship and resources from both institutions. This visit marked another milestone in IIT Palakkad’s efforts to build impactful international partnerships.
