Fifth Teacher Maths Circle Workshop held at IRTC Mundur
IIT Palakkad in collaboration with Mathematics Teachers Association of India (MTAI) and General Education Department (GED) Palakkad successfully conducted the fifth residential Teacher Maths Circle Workshop for the Upper Primary and High School Teachers of the Palakkad District at Integrated Rural Technology Centre, (IRTC) Mundur. The three-day workshop welcomed 30 teachers from across the district and four undergraduate students for an immersive mathematical experience.
The workshop featured four sessions each day, led by resource persons from various institutions including the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, Mumbai; Azim Premji University, Bangalore; International Centre for Theoretical Studies (ICTS) Bangalore and IIT Palakkad. The programme also featured a keynote talk by Prof. K Subramaniam, former Director of HBCSE, Mumbai and a teacher-led session led by two teachers who have been regular participants in the past workshops. The IRTC officials provided a tour of the campus as part of the workshop. It is our pleasure to note that many teachers who attended the workshop have already launched Math Circles within their schools.
