Syed Shafiulla and Parmeet Rooprai, M.Tech in Power Electronics and Power Systems(2022-24), who completed their M.Tech dissertations under the supervision of Dr. Manas Kumar Jena, Asst. Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, have won the prestigious Grid India Power System Award 2025. The thesis titled "Cybersecurity Challenges and Possible Solutions for Transmission Line Protective Relays" and "Advanced Oscillation Source Localization in WAMS Using FDOST and CDEF" respectively, were awarded in the master’s category. For the third time in a row, Grid India has acknowledged the MTech student thesis in power systems from IIT Palakkad. In 2023 and 2024, Bhavana Sharma(2020-22 cohort) and Sarthak Dash(2021-23 cohort) of IIT Palakkad were awarded the Grid India Power System Awards, respectively.
