Dr. Aramanda Shanmukha Kiran obtained his B.E. in Metallurgy from Andhra University, followed by an M.Tech. in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from IIT Madras and a Ph.D. in Materials Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru. His doctoral research focused on understanding microstructure evolution during solidification through the development of custom experimental apparatus and controlled solidification techniques. His doctoral work was recognized with the Best Thesis Award at IISc. He subsequently worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where he specialized in in-situ X-ray imaging and 3D tomography to investigate solidification phenomena. His research experience includes synchrotron-based imaging at Brookhaven National Laboratory and the Advanced Photon Source, as well as laboratory-based X-ray characterization at the Michigan Center for Materials Characterization. Prior to joining IIT Palakkad as an Assistant Professor, he worked as an ANRF National Postdoctoral Fellow (NPDF) at Beamline-4 (X-ray imaging), Indus-2, Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology (RRCAT), Indore.
