Biosketch
Himansu is a student with a keen interest in the intersections of environment, society, and politics. He completed his B.A. (Hons.) in History from Gazole Mahavidyalaya (2015–2018) and went on to pursue an M.A. in History at Malda College (2018–2020), both affiliated with the University of Gour Banga. In 2021, he joined Sikkim University for his M.Phil and successfully completed the program in 2023.
From December 2023 to May 2024, Himansu contributed as a Research Assistant to an ICSSR-funded project in collaboration with Sikkim University, where he engaged in critical archival and field-based research. Currently, he is working with the mentorship of Dr. Biswajit Sarmah, focusing on Environmental History.
His research interests span across Environmental and Agrarian History, Conservation Politics, Human–Animal Relations, and Pastoralism. Himansu is particularly drawn to questions of ecological change, conservation conflicts, and the lived experiences of rural and forest-dependent communities.
