IIT Palakkad and CMTI Bengaluru Signs MoU to Advance Academic and Research Collaboration in Manufacturing

In a significant step towards strengthening academia–industry collaboration in advanced manufacturing and allied areas, the Indian Institute of Technology Palakkad (IIT Palakkad) and the Central Manufacturing Technology Institute (CMTI), Bengaluru, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for academic and research cooperation on 25 September 2026. The MoU was signed as part of the ongoing 8th Industry-Academia Conclave (IAC 8.0) being hosted by IIT Palakkad. The Director of CMTI, Bengaluru, Dr. Nagahanumaiah graced the occasion as the Chief Guest of the conclave.

The MoU was exchanged in the presence of the leadership teams from both organisations including Prof. A Seshadri Sekhar, Director, IIT Palakkad; Dr. Bibhu Ranjan Sarangi, Dean, Academics, IIT Palakkad; Dr. Arvind Ajoy, Dean, ICSR, IIT Palakkad, Prof. Mayank Tiwari, Head in Charge,  Department of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering, IIT Palakkad, Dr. Dinesh Setti, Associate Professor, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Palakkad, Dr. Nelson Muthu, Faculty-in-Charge, Academia-Industry Collaboration, IIT Palakkad; Dr. Nagahanumaiah, Director of CMTI, Bengaluru;  faculty members, researchers, students, and industry representatives participating in IAC 8.0. 

The collaboration will promote sustained academic engagement and research partnerships between IIT Palakkad and CMTI. It will create opportunities for joint research initiatives, knowledge sharing, faculty and student engagement, training programmes, internships, and collaborative proposals addressing emerging needs in manufacturing and technology. This partnership underscores IIT Palakkad’s continued commitment to building meaningful collaborations with leading research and technology institutions. It also reflects the shared vision of IIT Palakkad and CMTI to advance academic cooperation, research, innovation, and human-resource development in support of India’s manufacturing and technological ecosystem.
