Empowering the minority through skill development; IIT Palakkad inks an MoU under the PM Vikas Scheme 

The Indian Institute of Technology Palakkad hosted an MoU signing ceremony under the Pradhan Mantri Virasat Ka Samvardhan (PM VIKAS) scheme at the institute’s  Agora Auditorium. The event was graced by Shri George Kurian, Hon’ble Minister of State for Minority Affairs, Government of India, Dr. Chandra Shekhar Kumar, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Minority Affairs and Shri. Ankur Yadav, Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Minority Affairs. 

Under the initiative, IIT Palakkad has designed three specialised courses– Junior Chip Designer, Embedded Software Engineer, and Junior Drone Engineer for around 400 aspirants from the minority communities aiming to equip the learners with essential technical and practical skills in semiconductors, embedded systems, and drone technology, preparing them for emerging industry opportunities.

Faculty and students from various colleges across Palakkad and Coimbatore districts attended the event. The students shared their hopes and enthusiasm for the programme, expressing confidence that the initiative would empower them with new skills and opportunities.
