Expanding Global Partnerships : IIT Palakkad hosts Dhofar University Delegation

IIT Palakkad hosted a delegation from Dhofar University, Oman, led by Vice Chancellor Professor Amer Ali Abdullah Al-Rawas, on 13th November 2024 to explore potential collaborations. The leadership team included Dr. Syed Ahsan Jamil, Deputy Vice Chancellor and Professor of Finance, Dr. Issam Bahdoor, Dean of the College of Engineering and Professor of Mechanical Engineering , and Dr. Khalid Al Mashikhi, Dean of the College of Arts and Applied Sciences and Professor of Education.

The delegation was warmly welcomed by Prof. A. Seshadri Sekhar, Director, IIT Palakkad ; Prof. Anand T.N.C., Dean Academics ; Prof. Santhakumar Mohan, Dean ICSR; Dr. Dinesh Setti Faculty in charge of International and Alumni Relations; Dr. Narayanan C. Krishnan, Associate Prof. and Head, Department of Data Science and  Dr. Senthilkumar V., Associate Prof., Department of Civil Engineering. The visitors also interacted with Data Science faculty and toured several labs and key facilities.

During the visit, the Dhofar University delegation presented an overview of their institution, followed by a presentation by Prof. Anand on IIT Palakkad. Prof. Sekhar shared his vision for the institute, emphasizing the potential for collaborative research by identifying specific thematic areas and organizing joint workshops. The fruitful discussion also explored the possibilities of joint degree programs, semester exchange programs for undergraduate students and joint degree options at the Master and Ph.D. levels.
