IIT Palakkad observed the Swachhata Hi Seva 2023 campaign with great zeal and dedication. The institute community actively engaged in a series of initiatives, ranging from clearing of weed and plastic wastes to awareness drives, ensuring the spirit of the week was alive and thriving. Collaborative efforts between NSS, UBA, and the Horticulture Club of IIT Palakkad played a pivotal role in orchestrating these events.
Under the 'Green Campus Initiative,' NSS and the Horticulture Club joined forces to clear weeds from the Nila Campus on 27 September. On 28 September, NSS proactively conducted a 'Plastic Free Campus' campaign, highlighting the commitment to reducing plastic usage within the campus.
In a demonstration of community engagement, UBA and NSS partnered with the Haritha Karma Sena of Malampuzha Panchayath to participate in the segregation of plastic waste. The collaborative effort extended to a visit to a Material Collection Facility in Malampuzha on 30 September.
NSS Volunteers, with the support of UBA and Haritha Karma Sena, took the initiative to visit households in the Pudussery Panchayath on 02 October to spread awareness about the importance of responsible plastic disposal. These combined efforts were a testament to IIT Palakkad's commitment to a cleaner and greener environment.
