IIT Palakkad embraces advancements in technology and innovation on National Technology day
Endless possibilities and exciting discoveries this is what technology is all about. As we celebrate National Technology Day, the Innovation Council of IIT Palakkad embraced the occasion by organising a series of discussions on new technology developments.
Dr. Arvind Ajoy delivered a session on the 'Up the TRL (Technology Readiness Level) Pyramid – Attempts at Frugal Scaling. Dr.Arvind explained TRL in building an idea into a viable commercial product, using low-cost prototype development facilitated by 3D printing and laser cutting. He also encouraged discussion on patents and innovations like building scientific instruments from DVD player parts, Moire-based measurements, LED solar simulators, and distance learning electronics kits.
The other topic of discussion was 'custom-made multifunctional material with tunable properties for environmental remediation and biomedical applications' by Dr. Mintu Porel. Dr. Mintu discussed the low-cost multi-purpose macromolecules developed in the IIT Palakkad's lab for environmental remediation and biomedical applications.
The celebrations recalled the transformations that technology has brought in. Further, the programs motivated students to explore the limitless possibilities of Innovation and Technology.
